The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise Headquarters
Located next to the Frogner Park in Oslo, the new headquarters for the Confederation ofNorwegian Enterprise (NHO) is one of three modernist buildings on the same block. Theoriginal building designed by Erling Viksjø in 1965 has been extended on three sides with arenovated wing along Essendrops Gate, new communal areas toward the north and a conferencepavilion in the park to the west. Dark worked closely with the historical preservationdepartment to develop a concept that would enhance the building's existing qualities, whileextending them to a more contemporary and multifunctional context. Artwork from the originalbuilding by Odd Tandberg were integral to the process, and Dark worked closely with Tandbergthroughout the restoration. Two folded copper walls embrace the existing structure, while there-opening of the vestibule area on the first floor and social meeting areas that provideaccess to natural light and excellent views of Frogner Park.
